Introducing your SpringDuck team:

SpringDucks.net was started in March 2005 by Nina Buckley as an effort to better organize the South African club here in Portland OR. Those who have assisted Nina are many, and we will try to recognize all of your roles and contributions.

Nina Buckley

With 21 SpringDuck test caps, we introduce to you Nina Buckley. With the most test caps and as captain of the team, Nina leads with vision and drive. Her forte is developing and executing the game plan, and so we will look to Nina for her expertise and organizational talents!

Edward Buckley

Edward Buckley is Nina’s father and lives in Los Angeles, CA. He is a native South African and a graduate of Helderberg College. He and Alf Birch attended school together at Helderberg. In order to show his support for our club, he has flown up to Portland every year, not only to attend the picnic, but to also donate hundreds of dollars worth of gifts given away at our event. Not to mention he’s also known for putting together a pretty challenging Trivia Contest game on South Africa. Thank you Mr. Buckley!

Warren and Tracey Gamley

Warren and Tracey are currently junior SpringDucks, and are looking to make their first test appearance soon. They are currently involved in the technical aspects of the team, and are assisting Nina with the team's website. They look forward to offering support and technical guidance where needed.

Steve Scullion and Steve Rautenbach

'The Two Steves' have volunteered to lead the SpringDucks on their first ever camping trip this year. It promises to be a lot of fun, and we are definitely looking forward to it!!

Bert Swanepoel and Bobby Keet

Bert and Bobby will be hosting the winter gala/potluck event at Bert's farm. We are all very much looking forward to this event!

Past Team Members:

Ann Burns

Ann is the original founder of the South African club in Portland. Because of her vision, we are able to get together and enjoy the benefits of sharing our South African community. Ann is currently involved in the logistical side of the team, and is responsible for ensuring that the park is booked and ready for us to use for the summer picnic each year. Thanks Ann!!

Pam Berger

Pam was the original (and only) partner of Nina's when they took over from Ann Burns and decided to grow the club. Over the last four years she has been acting as treasurer, bad address lady, supporter, and registrar. Sadly she had to leave us in April of 2005 because she decided to go back to school for her MBA and just couldn’t squeeze in any more commitments (we think she’s plenty smart enough already). We wish her luck anyway, and a say a huge thank you for all the time she has given us in the past!
